How are crystals formed?

Did you know that no two snowflakes look alike? Each snowflake has six sides and snow is actually clear in color!  A crystal is an organized grouping of atoms, or molecules. The temperature in the clouds has to be below freezing for snow to form. You need a magnifying glass or microscope to see the crystals clearly.

Each crystal has different properties and shapes. For example, sugar crystals are oblong and slanted at the ends; salt crystals are cubic. In this video, you will learn how to make a pretty six-sided Borax Crystal Snowflake.
